As we inch closer to Valentine\u2019s day, the rise of couples at Owensboro High School is concerning. Walking through the halls is a difficult task due to the constant hand holding. Using the bathroom is awkward because there\u2019s always someone having a \u201cno you hang up first\u201d contest. And, since we can\u2019t use both earbuds in the hallways, we\u2019re all forced to hear little smooches. For the sake of my fellow students and their mental health, let’s put a stop to PDA. <\/span><\/p>\n

PDA, aka public displays of affection, is not only gross but also very disrespectful. I\u2019m not sure if the offenders just watched \u201cMean Girls\u201d and \u201cTo all the Boys\u201d one too many times, but newsflash, kissing in the hallways isn’t romantic. It\u2019s disgusting. There is a time and place for everything and in the hallways in between classes isn’t the time nor the place to play tongue twister. Also, It\u2019s flu season. All this touching and spit swapping just makes me want to spray everyone down with some Lysol. My advice, cool it on the tonsil hockey and maybe invest in some good vitamins and disinfecting wipes. <\/span><\/p>\n

Why do girls choose the bathroom to talk to their significant others? I cannot speak for boys but it seems no matter what time or what bathroom you choose, there is always a girl in there talking to her other half. Also, the ugly looks you get when you (heaven forbid) decide to actually use the bathroom are unnecessary. Does she expect me to say,  \u201cI\u2019m sorry, am I interrupting something? Yea, you\u2019re probably right. I’ll just take care of my business in the hallway.\u201dYou chose to talk on the phone in the bathroom so, you and whoever you are on the phone with will have to deal with the consequences. <\/span><\/p>\n

Do not even get me started on the hand holding. We can not continue to walk \u00bd a mile per hour behind a barricade of people holding hands. It\u2019s like playing  Red Rover but with hormonal teenagers who refuse to ever let go. This isn\u2019t the Titanic. I promise if you let his hand go he’s not going to sink to his death in sub-zero waters. For the sake of the innocent pedestrians please, in the words of Elsa, let it go…<\/span><\/p>\n

In conclusion, public displays of affection are never okay. When I\u2019m at school, I don\u2019t want to feel like I just bought a ticket to watch the cheesiest romantic high school movie in existence. So, save the canoodling for when and your special someone are alone. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
