For years, the\nOwensboro High School Senior Class has traditionally taken an annual trip to Holiday\nWorld shortly before graduation. This year, however, that will not be the case.\nAccording to Christie Fogle, senior class counselor, that is because the class-wide\ntrip usually costs around $5,000, and the senior class has only raised about\n$2,000. Though some classes have been shy of the $5,000 mark in the past and\nstill been able to go through last minute donations of some kind, this year\u2019s\nclass of 2019 is so far off the mark that the trip is off the table altogether.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Holiday World trip\nis a tradition of Owensboro High School that, according to Fogle, originates from the \u201c2012 or 2013\u201d class, and\nthat after that class had their senior picnic at Atlantis Swim Park, they still\nhad a large sum of money left over and decided to take a Holiday World trip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fortunately, our\nclass will still be able to have their senior picnic at Atlantis, and will have\na multitude of foods, prizes, and giveaways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As for the seniors,\nfeelings are mixed. Dartanyan Tinsley said that \u201cIt\u2019s our fault we didn\u2019t raise\nenough money or do enough fund raising, and our class has never been known for\nthat.\u201d On the other hand, Madison Embry thinks \u201cIt\u2019s unfair that people donated\nmoney for the previous classes to go.\u201d She also stated that the Atlantis picnic\nwouldn\u2019t be fun because \u201cthe only thing to do there is swim and not everyone is\ncomfortable in a bathing suit.\u201d Dartanyan, however, said that \u201cBecause you are\ngonna be around your other classmates and friends, you can find a way to have\nfun\u2026 it\u2019s up to you.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
