The four longest years of my life are suddenly feeling incredibly short as the date to graduation inches closer and closer. As I reflect on my days as an Owensboro High School student, it wasn\u2019t nearly as bad as my melodramatic freshman year self would\u2019ve predicted it to be. In fact, it was quite the opposite.

OHS shaped me into someone I couldn\u2019t have seen myself becoming four years ago; between the morning fist bumps from Mr. Delacey and getting a cookie with lunch every Thursday, I learned early on that it really is the little things that make these four years so memorable. I owe a good portion of it to involvement; branching out and making new friends made a drastic difference in my experience. Moving past the initial awkwardness of being a freshman and making the effort to meet new people really does change the game in terms of making high school better.

My piece of advice to the underclassmen would be to soak every second of it in. Soak in the days where you\u2019re screaming the fight song in the gym, but also the days when you\u2019re stressing in second period because you have a huge test in third. Soak in the inevitable changes you\u2019ll go through, and embrace them with open arms. There will be mistakes you make and problems you face, but they\u2019re all part of figuring out who you\u2019re destined to become.

Owensboro High School has gave me some of the greatest memories I have, and I\u2019d be lying if I said I won\u2019t be sad knowing it\u2019s all behind me. The rest of my life is in front of me and it\u2019s scary knowing I can\u2019t rely on the safety of Owensboro. However, my excitement trumps fear, and I\u2019m eager to see where my life takes me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
