Each school year, Mrs. Johnson selects a yearbook editor that will oversee the making of the book. This year, Julia Kimbrell assumed the position. \u201cI came into this position with a clear vision of how I wanted the class to run, and I also knew the aesthetic that I wanted to use for the yearbook.\u201d The 2018-2019 yearbook will boast pops of gold in combination with the classic red and black. To go along with the color theme, the yearbook\u2019s title will be The Gold Standard.<\/u> \u201cI encourage every student to purchase a yearbook, so they can have a snapshot of this point in their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
Being a yearbook editor is an around clock job, and that\u2019s no different for Julia. \u201cI wake up around 7 every morning to get ready. I like to have time to enjoy a cup of coffee and ease into my day.\u201d Then, Julia rushes to school to make it to Mrs. Johnson\u2019s room before the 8:25 bell. After she makes it to school, Julia begins her yearbook duties. \u201cI\u2019ve recently been creating this year\u2019s book pages and working on assigning those pages to the yearbook staff. These jobs can be tedious, but it\u2019s rewarding to see the book come together.\u201d<\/p>\n
After a morning full of yearbook tasks, Julia heads to OCTC to take some core classes because even the yearbook editor has to take classes on the basics. \u201cOne thing I\u2019ve been working on this school year is balancing all my separate classes. In the past I would focus primarily on the classes I enjoy, but I know it\u2019s important to place emphasis on the classes that are more difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n
Julia\u2019s after school routine varies greatly from day to day. Some days she goes to cheer practice, some days she catches up on homework, and other days she goes to sporting events to take pictures. \u201cI try to get to a sporting event at least once a week. I think it\u2019s important for me to show initiative to get pictures that way the yearbook staff will be encouraged to do the same. How can I tell the yearbook staff to do something if I\u2019m not willing to do it myself?\u201d After her nightly activities, you can catch Julia relaxing at home. \u201cI like to have a little time to myself at the end of the night in order to decompress and prepare for the next day.\u201d As one day ends and the next day begins, one thing\u2019s for sure, if you see a yearbook, Julia is probably not too far away.<\/p>\n
