Austin Gough says he owes a lot of his recovery to nature's perfect drink...water

Drinking water is the key to life. Water is what keeps the body fueled and ticking. I am a firm believer that water is the reason why people live longer, happier and healthier. Life is a marathon if you are blessed, and water is the key to helping you run it. According to www.medicalnewstoday.com water regulates body temperature, flushes body waste, cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues, and needless to say your body airways need it. A huge plus is that it increases skin health and beauty too. So what can it not do?

As an athlete and a person that is very involved in fitness and training, water is what helps me recover and play at my peak condition. When I broke my fibula earlier this football season, nobody not even the doctors thought I would play this season. I personally did not let that faze me because I am always ready to prove someone wrong. So, I worked the hardest I have ever worked in my life to get back in action. But I feel what took my training and healing to next level was my water intake. I was drinking up to 12 or more bottles a day, while now I am drinking around 10 bottles now. The average human should be drinking around a half gallon of water a day, which is around four bottles.

Owensboro High Schools’ health and fitness coach, Blake Roberts, said, “Water naturally flushes toxins and acid out of your muscles that cause soreness. Therefore it makes you all around more flexible and quicker to recover. Also, 60% of your body is made up of water, so you need it to help you in all aspects of life.”  It’s very true, OHS students -try upping your water intake to a few more bottles a day and just feel how much it changes you for the better.

Drinking water is and always will be your best medicine, top recovery supplement, and pre-workout. So, do not just take my word for it. Go grab grab your bottle and drink up OHS!
