March Madness: Mrs. Libby Johnson won the first annual teachers bracket in 2019.

It’s that time of the year when the teachers start putting down bets… not on who is going to graduate, but in a friendly, totally legal celebration of March Madness to count down the days until spring break. They sit down, put on their glasses, click their pen, and start their brackets.

Also during the month of March, each school day has a theme. Every day if the teachers choose to dress up, they are able to enter their name in a drawing to win gift cards. The drawing will be at the end of the month. If teachers pay $20, they get to wear jeans for the whole month.

Coach Russelburg states, “ I do plan to participate in the March Madness spirit month. I’m not the type of guy who will go out to buy an outfit the night before just to stick with the theme, but if I have an old jersey, hat, or tie-dye shirt in the closet, and I remember to wear it, then I’ll throw it on for the sake of the spirit week.”

Former 2019 March Madness winner, Mrs. Johnson, put in $20, and came out with $110 last year.  “NCAA basketball bracketology has been a secret talent of mine since high school.” She says she will definitely be entering and participating again this year.  She adds that this portion of the teacher contest is totally outside school.

Mr. Hume will probably not be participating in the dress up days, but he says he is going to put the Louisville Cardinals as the winner of the bracket.
