OHS in NYC

The bi-annual trip to New York was last weekend and by all accounts, a great time was had by all.

If you have any form of social media you probably saw all the pictures, videos, stories, and boomerangs posted by Owensboro High School students while they were visiting New York City last weekend. The Annual Bradshaw History Trip took off on Friday afternoon at 4 pm to head off to the Big Apple.

The bus ride was supposed to last 13 hours but that 13 hours slowly turned into a 22 hour bus ride. On Friday night we ran into a snow storm which caused the bus ride to be prolonged.

Although the bus ride lasted longer than expected, the students didn’t miss anything they had scheduled for Saturday. On Saturday they visited the American National History Museum, the 9/11 Museum, and they took the Staten Ferry Island Tour that passed the Statue of Liberty. After a long day they headed back to the hotel for a pizza party and a good night’s rest.

On Sunday, they woke up bright and early for their tour of the city. The tour consisted of visiting landmarks throughout the city. They visited Central Park, Grand Central Station, The Plaza Hotel, Parts of NYU, Chinatown, Little Italy, and ending the tour in Times Square. They ended the trip with a Broadway Show, Come From Away.

Around 60 students from OHS went on this trip to New York City. Hadley Fogle (11) when asked about her favorite part of the trip said, “My favorite part of the trip was the 9/11 museum because I really enjoyed all the videos and artifacts.” Clayton Rhoads (12) said, “My favorite part was just walking around New York City people watching because it was such a different environment than what we in Owensboro are used to.”

Overall most students that attended would say The Annual Bradshaw History Trip was very successful, except for the 22 hour bus ride.
