5 Shows You Should be Watching in 2022
By: Madison Slaton
So many new shows have come out across a variety of streaming platforms, and it can be difficult to keep up with everything. Fear not OHS! Here are five shows you should be watching in 2022!
American Horror Stories (Hulu)
This new series on FX is a spin-off anthology series based on the Emmy award-winning American Horror Story. Like a typical anthology series, every episode is a new story with brand new characters……for the most part. While creating new stories and scares, the show also connects back to the original and provides answers to iconic characters from the past.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (HBO Max)
I know I can’t speak for everyone, but Pretty Little Liars was a show that I was absolutely obsessed with during quarantine, so I was extremely excited for a new series. The show takes place in a brand new town (Millwood) with a group of brand new liars, but the main antagonist is once again ‘A’. Our new group of liars find themselves terrorized by their ‘A’ due to something involving their parents that happened 20 years ago. It’s hard to compare this brand new series to the legendary original but it’s definitely worth the watch.
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move on (Netflix)
These messy reality shows aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, I know, but they’re mine and maybe they’re yours? This show features six couples in which one of the partners is ready to get married and issues their partner an ultimatum: get married or break up. While that seems relatively tame for a reality show, the real interesting part is that each couple swaps partners for three weeks. The point of this is to allow each partner to see if they want to be with their original partner for the rest of their life. It honestly goes about as well as you’d expect. Check it out.
The Boys (Amazon Prime)
The majority of these shows are dramas or shows that are targeted toward teens (it’s not my fault they’re so good), but this show is for you people who prefer superheroes and action. Now on its third season, The Boys follows a group of vigilantes who are trying to take down a famous group of superheroes who abuse their powers. Without spoiling too much, The Boys is a show that I ended up liking more than I thought I would. It can appeal to a variety of viewers and the twists keep you on the edge of your seat.
Our Flag Means Death (HBO Max)
Our Flag Means Death might not be for everyone, but I think the majority would like it if given the chance. The show is loosely based on the life of Stede Bonnet who was a real pirate, the show isn’t the most historically accurate but his background is. Stede Bonnet is a wealthy landowner who leaves that behind to achieve his goal of becoming a successful pirate in the golden age of piracy. Give it a shot!
