Sovar Shines as Men’s Soccer Beats Bowling Green 8-0

After a successful senior night presentation, the Red Devils were eager to battle the big name Bowling Green Purples. Seniors Austin Sovar, Fermin Mosqueda, Zane West, Ryan Black, and Will Clark were ready to play their senior night matchup.

Junior Paxton Jenkins scored the best goal of the season in the 24th minute in the first half. He ripped a shot in the top left corner from outside of the box to put the Devils ahead 1-0. 

Senior Austin Sovar began the 2nd half scoring frenzy with a goal assisted by Junior Andrew Saltsman. When asked about the pass that led to his goal, Austin says “It perfectly led me up to the shot. Overall it was just a great assist from a great player.”

Senior Austin Sovar soon scored 15 minutes later again in the 23rd minute in the second half to put the Devils lead to 3-0. 

Who scored again? Guess who! Austin Sovar scored another goal 4 minutes later in the 19th minute to increase the lead to 4-0.

Junior Reis Dickinson increased the scoring with a ripper from outside of the box in the 16th minute to give the Devils a 5-0 lead. 

After giving an assist to Austin Sovar, Andrew Saltsman decided to put two points on the board by scoring in the 10th minute and the 5th minute in the second half. 

Senior Fermin Mosqueda decided to put a cap on senior night by scoring with 3 minutes to go. 

OHS battles Ohio County at home on Thursday, September 27, at 7 PM at Shifley Park.
