The Owensboro High School Boys Basketball team kicked off the season with a 76-71 win over a solid Hancock County team on Tuesday, November 29. Here is a preview of what’s to come this season.

Coming off a 22-6 season in which they brought home a district championship, the Devils are setting their sights even higher for the 2022-2023 campaign. With the only loss from the team last year being guards Amari Wales and Chris Glover, the Devils are expected to be one of the top teams in the region. This year’s squad boasts five returning seniors (Kenyata Carbon, Kanye Johnson, Cayman Powell, Jalen Rogers, Talas Taylor), a ton of experience off the bench, as well three new additions that are expected to play pivotal roles.

The only things the Devils can do at this point is continue to work hard and develop chemistry with one another as the season progresses. The Devils look to have a lot of talent this year, but have to execute every single night. “You can’t just show up, you gotta come ready to play,” says one senior Red Devil. “Our sights are set high and we have to have everyone on the same page if we want to reach those goals.”

With their up-tempo style of play, looking to get up and down and be quick in transition, the Red Devils will be putting on a show every night they take the court. Be sure to come out and support this year’s squad as they look to do big things. Check out this season’s schedule below. GO DEVILS!
