As a kid, my mom would plan an advent calendar for us each December. Some people have gift advent calendars, but ours would be activities with only a few gifts that would usually be games for all of us to play as a family. I would always look forward to it, but as my siblings and I have grown up, it has become harder to do something every night with everyone’s busy schedules. Whether you plan an advent calendar or are simply bored and need something to do, I have compiled a list of fun activities for this Christmas break!

1. Build a Gingerbread House – I like to have gingerbread house competitions. You could buy gingerbread kits or just make it from scratch!

2. Go Ice Skating – Whether at the Edge Ice Rink or downtown at the Convention Center, ice skating is always a way to have fun and get a good laugh when you have friends who can’t skate.

3. Bake and Decorate Sugar Cookies – I love to bake, so this is something I do every year. You can do this with family or friends, and who doesn’t love a good sugar cookie?

4. Christmas Lights – Get in your pajamas, grab some hot chocolate, and go find some pretty Christmas lights!

5. Have a Family Game Night – Who doesn’t love a good game night? Turn on a Christmas movie or music in the background and go dominate in Monopoly!

6. Have a Christmas Movie Marathon – There are so many amazing Christmas classics, it will undoubtedly be hard to only choose a few!

7. Do a Christmas Craft – This may not be for everyone, but for those of you who love a good craft, Pinterest has plenty of options.

8. Christmas Scavenger Hunt Around Town – This takes a little planning, but it’s fun to see the pictures after. Pictures are proof!

What if it snows??

1. Build a Snowman – This is the perfect way to use the scarf and hat that you’ve outgrown.

2. Go Sledding – An excuse to push your friend down a hill.

3. Snowball Fight – Who doesn’t want bragging rights?

I can’t wait for Christmas break, and I’m sure you feel the same way! Hopefully, this gave you some ideas of ways to spend your holiday break.
