Students look forward to Working at Holiday World
special to the Digital Devil by Maylee Knight (10), Journalism I student:
Plenty of teenagers in Owensboro KY, already decided how they
are going to spend their summer this year. Many are going to go to the
local pool or skate park doing what they find fun. Others will be
enjoying starting their first job, at the nearby amusement park Holiday
World.
Nearly 100 people work at Holiday World year round. Multiple
teens that will be starting this new job attend OHS. Hayley Rudd,
freshman, states “she’s very excited” about starting her first job. “Most
teenagers would think spending your summer starting a job would be
boring, but I’m very excited and can’t wait to begin,” she said. Rudd’s
brother, Alex Hunnicut, will be starting his very first job at Holiday
World too. Hunnicut states he thinks it’s “pretty cool,” to be starting his
first job. “It’s just going to be funny working with my sister, but I’ll also
be making money,” he said.
Even though a lot of the teens are new workers, some are former
employees planning on working at Holiday World again for the summer.
Sophomore, Eveyanna Lindle, is one of them and says she is thrilled to
continue working there this year with many new workers. “It was fun to
start my first job last summer and I’m happy to be going back,
especially having new workers from my school,” Lindle said.
