The Owensboro High School Red Devils started their 2018 football season off strong
with a 41-13 win over the North Hopkins Maroons at Rash Stadium this past friday night.

At the start of the first quarter, the Devils scored 21 unanswered points with 3 passing touchdowns from WillWarren to Imonte Owsley (11), Treyvon Tinsley (10), and Jordon Sorrels (11).

The Maroonsfinally responded with a touchdown before halftime.
Coming out of the half, the Maroons scored another touchdown to make the game 21-13with a failed 2 point conversion. The Devils responded with Sophomore Ben Flaherty (10) banking a touchdown pass from Will Warren.

The Devils dominated the fourth quarter with 2 more gameclinching touchdowns with an impressive 49 yard touchdown run from Imonte Owsley and a 42
yard pass from Warren to Owsley.

On the defensive side Sophomore Austin Gough (10) had 10 tackles, 3 assisted, and 1
forced fumble. Cameron Thompson SS (11) of the Devils defense says “It was a great way for us to open the season. Everybody did their job well and that showed in the end.” says Cameron

Overall, the Devils had a dominant performance over the North Hopkins
Maroons and came out with a solid victory and a great way to start off their season.

Owensboro plays in game two of the Border Bowl this Friday night in Evansville at the Reitz Bowl.
