Congratulations to the OHS Girls Basketball Team on a phenomenal season! They finished as 3rd Region Runner-up yesterday after after a tough battle with Owensboro Catholic (37-46). This was the first time the Lady Devils reached the Region Finals since 2007.

The Lady Devils ended the season with a 21-11 record (13-5 in the region, 6-3 in the district), their highest win total in at least 25 years. Junior guard A’Lyrica Hughes scored the most points for OHS this season, averaging 14.3 points per game. Hughes also pulled in the most rebounds with 6.9 per game. Freshman guard Unique Carter-Swanagan was the second leading scorer, averaging 8.5 points per game, while only playing 17 games.

This group of ladies has really turned around the girls basketball program this season. Congratulations to the five seniors-Lindsey Gibson, Melia Moorman, CJ Paige, K’Asia Palmer, and Chandler Worth-that helped foster in this change and do things that haven’t been done in a very long here at OHS.
