Devil’s Soccer Gain Their First Win Against the Graves County Eagles
Owensboro’s Boys Soccer team finally came away with a win after a they played Graves County last Saturday night. This was their first win of the season after one game tied against Henderson County and a 1-0 loss against Apollo.
The buzzer rang, and the scoreboard read 3-0 as the players jogged off of the field. The Devil’s had a hard fought game as they managed to have a total of 31 shots and 62% possession.
Coach Haley’s main objective for the game was to get as many shots as possible, for this was something the team struggled with in previous games. He said that 30 shots was the target, and the Devil’s pulled away with 31 shots.
After being asked about the game, Senior and defender Ryan Black said, “We had a much needed bounce back game from Thursday, we played really well and are looking to build on our performance on Thursday against DC.”
Seniors Austin Sovar and William Clark both had goals. Junior Andrew Saltsman also had a goal.
Spectator and Senior Isaac Nalley commented about the game: “Out of the games I’ve watched, this game was clearly in our favor. I think the team played really well.”
Owensboro plays next Thursday August 23rd at home against Daviess County. They hope to gain their second win of the season, and their first win against the Panthers in several years.
