After beating Reitz 35-34 in the Border Bowl, the Owensboro Red Devils (2-0) battle the Owensboro Catholic Aces (0-2) at Steele Stadium.

The weather did not hold back. After a 30 minute delay of thundering rain and lightning, the lights came on and the game was preparing to start. Both student sections persevered in the rain, yelling at each other in the process.

The Aces started the game off with a touchdown, but Monte Owsley (11) tied it on a 3-yard TD run.

After another touchdown from the Aces, the Red Devils pulled within 14-13 on a 5-yard TD run by Tre’von Green.

Trailing 14-13 at halftime, OHS finished a six-play, 53-yard drive capped off by a 27-yard touchdown run by Tre’von Green (12) in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

OCHS answered right back with a 42-yard pass from Drew Hartz to Jace Kessler to make it 21-19.

Taking control of the offensive game, Will Warren (12) capped off a long drive with a 35-yard TD pass to Tyren Hayden. Shortly after, Kam Watkins (11) recovered a Catholic fumble on the next possession. Monte Owsley (11) then scored with a 37-yard touchdown run to uplift the Devils to a 32-21 lead.

After that, the Aces scored multiple times in a row to silence the Devils.

OHS finished with 447 yards of total offense. Will Warren (12) finished 21-37 for 260 yards and one touchdown. Monte Owsley (11) led the running campaign with 112 yards on 10 carries and 2 touchdowns. Tre’von Green (12) had 90 yards on 8 attempts with 2 touchdowns.

OHS battle the Bowling Green Purples Friday, September 7th, at 7 PM.

  1. A fall to one of our rivals in the Catholic aces gives us nothing but motivation to win the rest of our schedule. This week we play another rival in bowling green and are determined to win. The bounce back is gonna be better than the setback #FILD

  2. i love ohs it has been an amazing school since i have been here i was kinda nerves to be in high school but i learned that it’s not that bad at all and i will be at the game friday to cheer on my fellow ohs football players and the cheer leaders

  3. Our defensive play calling could have been better, but it was a good game we could’ve won, it just slipped away from us. We will get them next time.

  4. It sucks that Owensboro lost that game they really had it but defense didn’t hold up their side of ball. That was a really good game though so I do give them credit for working their butts off. Great Article.
