It was the worst combination during the OHS Men’s Soccer first round regional matchup against Meade County, cold and windy.

With 7 minutes left in the game, a comeback would almost be a miracle after Meade County had been shutting OHS out the whole game. The score was 2-0.

OHS (15-5-1) and Meade County (9-10-2) played in the first round of the 3rd Regional Tournament Monday, October 15th, at Apollo High School.

In the 70th minute, Meade County took a 1-0 lead.

10 minutes later, Meade County doubled their score with scoring another goal making the score 2-0.

Instead of giving up and backing down, the mighty Red Devils put their foot on the accelerator and started the comeback of the season.

Senior Austin Sovar tapped in a goal after it was deflected off the Meade County Goalkeeper ensuing the miraculous comeback, cutting the lead in half.

Junior Grayson McFarland scored the last goal to cap the comeback, with a header that reached the back of the net from a cross by Andrew Saltsman. The game was tied 2-2 before the Meade County players could blink.

After two 5 minute periods of scoreless overtime, the Devils were destined to win in PKs.

Sophomore Hser Thaw, Juniors Paxton Jenkins, Andrew Saltsman, Grayson McFarland, and Senior Austin Sovar all shot PKs for the Red Devils. The ending score was 3-2 (4-3 PKs) and the Red Devils advanced.

The Red Devils play Ohio County on Tuesday, October 16th at 7 PM.
