Aric Holman, a main role player for the 2015 KHSAA State Championship Team for OHS is now a senior and the starting Power Forward (PF) for the basketball team at Mississippi State University. Projected to be a top 20 draft pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, he was 8th in the league in rebounds and was the second leading scorer on the Bulldogs roster last year.

I got the inside scoop with Aric on some topics about the path he is on right now and how he got there.

“The game is different at the college level because it’s way faster and guys have to play roles instead of just playing free.” Aric said.

Holman was good enough his junior year at MSU to declare himself for the 2018 NBA Draft. He says he did this more with intentions to get a view at the league and to gather information about where his game is now and to evaluate what he needs to be doing to play at the next level. “It was more just conversations with guys (scouts), seeing what they were thinking,” Holman said to the Messenger Inquirer in early September. “I wouldn’t care what team I get drafted to, I would be thankful for the opportunity.”

“Playing for Coach Drake helped me a lot because he helped me deal with adversity and he also showed me how to work hard and become a leader.” Aric said. The 2018-19 season starts early November. Be sure to watch Holman as he has a dominant season and potentially get drafted after his senior year.
